Bringing in and keeping money in our local economy while preserving the cultural identity of our community
Welcome to the Hecho en Westwood (formerly the RISE Westwood Collective) website.
Hecho en Westwood preserves and empowers our community's cultural identity through grassroots initiatives. From its origin as a pandemic-era resource-sharing network to its current status as a registered neighborhood organization, Hecho en Westwood leads culturally enriching events and fosters economic empowerment. Our mission focuses on supporting Latinx/BIPOC-owned businesses, organizing community events, and providing culturally responsive youth programming. We believe in the transformative power of community-led initiatives to celebrate diversity, promote inclusivity, and strengthen Westwood's cultural fabric.

Hecho en Westwood Youth ProgramsHecho en Westwood Youth Programs are dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders through culturally responsive and enriching experiences. At the heart of our youth programming is the Hecho en Westwood Danza Mexika Afterschool Program, which offers FREE classes for BIPOC Southwest Denver youth and their families to connect with and preserve their ancestral and cultural legacy. We provide a series of different classes, ranging from step-by-step Danza ensayos and Mexika philosophy lectures to engaging hands-on art activities and cooking classes. Through these diverse offerings, we aim to inspire confidence, foster creativity, and instill pride in cultural heritage among youth, strengthening their sense of identity within our community.
